Click on the photos and details below for more information and how to book our accommodation in Gornji Milanovac.
The town of Gornji Milanovac is 122km from Belgrade and is one of the largest municipality areas in Serbia, but in terms of population ranks amongst the scarcely populated areas. The scenery is mostly mountains of lush greenery like Rudnik, Vujan, Rajac Suvobor and Maljen, interspersed with the rivers of the valleys. There are 61 villages which have good prospects for country tourism. The region is widely connected with the Karadjordjevics and the Obrenovics, the last two Serbian dynasties which followed each other on the Serbian throne. There are numerous monuments connected with them in the municipality. The area is also rich with monasteries and remains from the ancient bronze, Roman and mediaeval periods. The Monastery Vracevsnica, built in the 15th century is well worth seeing; it lies just off the road winding toward Gornji Milanovac from Kragujevac. The small village of Kostunici is home to the museum of ethnicity, "Andjelija Misic", as well as "Prodanoviceva magaza", a museum of history. Rudnik a mountain town surrounded by lush forests has numerous trails which lead to archeological sites, the peaks of Rudnik, and monasteries in Vracevsnica, Boljavce and Nikolje. Savinac with its spring and waterside restaurant is in the village of Sarani and is a great picnic spot. According to tradition St. Sava once rode through Savinac, and the print of his horse's hoof is still visible on a stone in the street. National hero Milos Obrenovic built a memorial here for his wife Ljubica.
